QUINTA vs TPMS

Tire Pressure Monitoring Sensors (TPMS) that come with the vehicle VS Quinta

Today, almost all new vehicles come with TPMS. It alerts you on the dashboard when a tire loses presión (and, in some cases, also temperature). That helps… but it leaves out many questions that really matter for operations:

  • How is the tread depth while the vehicle is on the road?
  • How much load does each axle or even each tire (in duals) support?
  • How much useful life does it have left? When should it be rotated?
  • Is that tire the same one or was it swapped?
  • What brand/model/size gives me the best performance for cost per kilometer?

For a personal vehicle, this is already relevant. In a fleet, it’s the day-to-day: inventory and rotations, purchases and budgets, third-party trailers, road calls, and the constant pressure to maintain availability and safety.

What the factory TPMS does (and doesn’t) do

The traditional TPMS alerts the driver when there is low pressure or high temperature. It reduces manual inspections and prevents some blowouts. But—and this is key—no factory TPMS measures tread depth on the road or axle/tire load natively. Nor does it, by itself, create a tire-by-tire history (with brand, model, size, and internal ID) as needed to make cost and maintenance decisions.

Moreover, in the cabin, the alerts compete with other notifications; sometimes they are addressed late or get missed. And without context (tread depth, load, pressure/temperature trends), it’s difficult to prevent instead of only react.

What Quinta does Quinta differently

Think of a tire that “reports” its condition at all times, and whose information travels with you—without being lost when you rotate it or move it between vehicles:

  • Pressure, temperature, load, and tread depth per tirein real time.
  • Each sensor is linked to the correct tire (internal ID + brand, model, and size), so its history follows it.
  • Alerts for the driver and the monitoring center, with escalation if no one responds.
  • AI that identifies slow leaksimbalances in dual tiresabnormal wear and recommends rotations.
  • Cost per kilometer per tire, per route, per driver, or per vehicle; purchase and maintenance decisions based on real data.

In short: Quinta = TPMS + Load + Tread Depth + History + AI + Management en una sola plataforma.

Typical cases in operation

  • Inaccurate inspection vs. reliable data: Without data, the “quick inspection” is misleading. With readings per tire and and trends, you can accurately decide when to intervene and prevent premature wear.
  • Slow leak that becomes a breakdown: Drops of 2–3 psi per day go unnoticed. With trend tracking and slow leak alerts, you can schedule corrections between trips, not on the road.
  • Load imbalance in dual tires: One dual works harder, heats up, and wears down the tread. With load + temperature you see the pattern, adjust the pressure, and prevent a single tire from paying the price.

Return on investment (illustrative example)

Suppose 10,000 km/month per unit, 2.5 km/L (≈ 4,000 L/month).

  • Fuel: correcting underinflation and balance can recover ≈1% → 40 L/month.
  • Tire life: extending it by a few percentage points across a full set is immediately noticeable in the annual budget.
  • Road calls: avoiding a roadside assistance call every so often pays for months of subscription.

With a cost close to US$50/month per unit, the goal is for the platform to pay for itself and leave a positive margin in fuel, tire life, and availability.
