In the coming weeks, Mexico will apply\u00a0new tariffs and anti-dumping duties<\/strong>\u00a0on\u00a0imported tires<\/strong>, especially those coming from\u00a0China<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For freight transport, where tires are the second most important input after diesel, this change could represent a\u00a0silent emergency<\/strong>\u00a0that directly impacts operating costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s happening?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Since mid-2024, the Federal Government has begun to\u00a0review and increase import taxes<\/strong>\u00a0on strategic products, including tires\u00a0truck, trailer, and automobile tires<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new\u00a0tariffs of up to 35%<\/strong>\u00a0and the\u00a0anti-dumping duties<\/strong>\u00a0aim to protect the national industry, but they also\u00a0will make imported tires more expensive<\/strong>\u00a0which currently dominate a large part of the Mexican market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
